Unicompartmental KneeReplacement
Targeted resurfacing for patients with single-compartment knee damage.
Unicompartmental Knee Replacement
Unicompartmental Knee Replacement, often called 'Uni' or partial replacement, is a high-precision procedure that replaces only the diseased portion of the knee joint. Dr. Ravi Teja explains that this approach is like 'resurfacing' a specific track; we remove the worn-off bone from just one of the three knee compartments (usually the medial). By preserving your natural ACL and PCL, the knee maintains its natural biomechanics and balance (proprioception). This results in a faster recovery, less post-operative pain, and a joint that 'feels like your own' again.
Surgical Process
Clinical Mapping
Advanced imaging and stress-testing the knee to ensure arthritis is isolated to a single compartment.
Selective Resurfacing
Precisely removing only the arthritic surface from the femur and tibia while protecting ligaments.
Implant Fitting
Seating precision titanium and medical-grade plastic liners for frictionless joint gliding.
Patient Care
Recovery Roadmap
Most patients walk within hours of surgery and return home the same or next day. Full return to light activities and work typically occurs in 2-4 weeks, significantly faster than a total joint replacement.
Who Needs This Procedure?
Patients with arthritis limited to only one side (medial or lateral) of the knee
Individuals with intact ACL and PCL ligaments and stable alignment
Active patients who wish to preserve as much natural bone and tissue as possible
Patients seeking a more 'lifelike' feel than a total replacement provides
